Featuring: Derailed, Los Terribles, Hell's Half Acre, LBRO, Buzzard, Amputators, Unloader, Sinstra Vessel

Throughout its seven year history the Johnny Briggs Memorial BBQ continues to rock Denver and honor the memory of beloved Denver musician Johnny Briggs. This year's event features more action than ever, including TWO reformed Denver local bands Los Terribles and Johnny's own band Derailed. That's not all: also slated to take the stage Saturday, September 8, are Lyin' Bitch and the Restraining Orders (Westword's Best Band Name!!), Buzzard, and the break-out metallers from the depths of Colorado's mountains, Amputators. All bands on the bill descend from direct roots of Johnny's career as a legendary Denver rock guitarist.

August 15th marks a historical day in Denver music....the day the stars aligned to bring together Joe Clark (guitarist and long time friend of Johnny) and three original members of Johnny's many-years-defunct Hell's Half Acre! These four will play a tribute set this year at the Memorial, along with two more additions to the bill, Unloader and Sinstra Vessel, bringing the number of bands to eight!

This year aims to top previous years in fund-raising and community involvement (even the Fox News coverage in 2005!). Bands from Denver's past and present rock scene have donated prizes for a fund-raising raffle, and a grab bag in exchange for bumping up your admission fee from $7 to $10. The Hell's Half Acre CD of previously unreleased songs alone is worth the three bucks, but add to it the limited edition new and vintage stickers and other loot, the bags will go fast. The Loot also includes a raffle ticket for the raffle drawing going on throughout the day, and additional raffle tickets are a buck, and prizes are shirts, CDs, and more!

If that isn't enough to get you there, well, keep reading. This year not only do we plan to raise money for the Max Fund (a no-kill animal shelter), but Russ Fahnestock (of Derailed) is spearheading a challenge to reach a goal of $500 from the door with a promise that he'll shave his head and donate his glorious mane to Wigs for Kids! We hope to encourage more hair donations, along with any head-shaving volunteers whether they've got the required 12"+ of clean hair to donate, or if they just feel like getting a free haircut...just to add to the spectacle!

Come on down starting at 3pm for bands, bbq, haircuts and prizes. Honor the memory of our friend and rockstar Johnny Briggs. Help raise money and donations for the Max Fund and Wigs for Kids. We promise this event will be one you won't soon forget!
